Instructor was encouraging and accommodating. The boys were guided carefully. Really not easy and very high level thinking process. The boys were engaged and look forward to the next sessions.

Where is Chess.sg?

The Chess.sg Clubhouse is at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, Tower Block, #18-01, a 2 to 3 minute sheltered walk from Beauty World MRT. Visits are by appointment. See how to get there.

What age can my child start?

Group classes take children from age 4, with classes grouped by age and level. 1:1 coaching and tournaments are for ages 6 and up: the Age Group Championship covers ages 6 to 12, and the Rapid Championship is for ages 6 and up, adults included.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New students get a free trial group class. For 1:1 coaching, first-time students get a discounted trial lesson: $45 online or $80 in person.

How much do group classes cost?

$540 for a 12-lesson package, which works out to $45 per one-hour lesson. Classes run weekly, all chess materials are provided, and missed classes can be made up with 24 hours’ notice.

Are the tournaments FIDE-rated, and does my child need a FIDE ID?

Yes, every Saturday tournament is FIDE-rated, so players need a FIDE ID to take part. Rapid Championships (ages 6 and up, adults welcome) are $35 and Age Group Championships (ages 6 to 12) are $58. Apply for a FIDE ID or read our first tournament guide.

Can parents wait at the clubhouse?

Parents and helpers are not able to enter the centre during classes and camps, but Bukit Timah Shopping Centre and the malls around Beauty World have plenty of cafes and food options a short walk away.

Which class or camp is right for my child?

Take our 3-minute placement quiz on the group classes page. It adapts to your child’s age and any online rating, and places them in the class where they will have the most fun and improve fastest.
