Date: Saturday, 3rd May 2025, 11:30am-5:30pm (Upcoming tournament dates:

Location: The Mind Cafe Mega, 30 Prinsep Street, Singapore 188647 (5 mins walk from Dhoby Ghaut MRT, 1 min walk from Bencoolen MRT)

Format: All participants will get to play 7 rounds of FIDE-rated 15 mins + 3 second increment games.

Prizes: $2,000+ worth of cash & chess sets up for grabs in open, unrated, womens & age group categories

Entry fee: $78 (for rated players) / $88 (for unrated players) / $68 (for university / polytechnic students)

Beginners Welcome: All players aged 7 and up are welcome to join, as long as you can play a full game of chess without illegal moves.

FAQ

Is this tournament suitable for beginners? 

Our tournament is beginner-friendly. As long as you are able to play a full game of chess without illegal moves, you will be able to participate. If your child is under 12 and is unrated, they will win an award if they manage to win at least 1 point. 

How many rounds can I play? How is the winner determined? 

All players will play 7 rounds and will receive 1 point for a win, 0.5 points for a draw and 0 points for a loss. After 7 rounds, players are ranked based on their accumulated points. 

Usually what is the age range of players who participate? 

We usually see players of all ages, from 6 to 70 years old participate! From our previous tournament data, the average age of players is around 25 years old. 

What awards can I win? 

Awards are given to those who place in the following categories: Open top 10, U24/U16/U12/U8 top 3, Female top 3, Unrated top 5. Additionally, U12 unrated players who win at least 1, 2 or 3 points will win medals of commendation, merit, and distinction respectively. See the full list of prizes here.
